Questions we get asked
If the answer you need is not here, ask us — the list grows from real questions.
Getting started
What hardware do I need?
An Android device — a TV box, stick or tablet — and a screen with HDMI. Most cheap Android boxes handle a full-screen video comfortably.
How long does setup take?
About a minute per screen. Install the player, read the six-character code off the display, add it in the dashboard.
Do I need to install anything on my computer?
No. The dashboard runs in a browser. The only install is the player app on the device.
Content
What can I put on a screen?
Images, video, audio, PDFs, Office documents, YouTube links and live web pages. Zones can mix them freely.
Can different parts of the screen show different things?
Yes. Templates split the display into up to seven zones and each runs its own playlist at its own pace.
How quickly do changes appear?
The player checks for a new manifest every 15 seconds, so a saved change is normally collected by the next check-in.
Can I schedule content?
Yes — a date range, a daily time window, and which weekdays it should run.
Reliability
What happens if the internet drops?
Nothing visible. Media is cached on the device and playback continues. It resyncs when the connection returns.
What about a power cut?
The player relaunches itself when the device boots and returns to its schedule.
What if a video file is broken?
That clip is skipped and the zone moves on, rather than freezing.
Accounts
Can I have more than one user?
Yes, with administrator and standard roles. Admin actions are enforced on the server, not just hidden in the UI.
Is my content private?
Media sits in your own storage area and is only served to your paired devices. See the security page for detail.
Still unsure?
Ask us anything — we would rather answer than have you guess.
